Community Projects

The PAHB is very active in the community. Not only do we provide services and support for PAHB members but we are also believe in giving back to the community in which we live and work.

Women’s Council:
PAHB’s Women’s Council group is our community service arm. All employees and spouses (or significant others) of members are invited to participate in this fun group. They meet for lunch once per month, get to know each other. Below are some of their recent activities:
- They help with PAHB events. At the Home & Garden Show they host our exhibitor hospitality room, providing homemade cookies and goodies and a quiet, friendly place for exhibitors to take a break. These women also plan our Parade of Homes party, and always come through when called upon for help.
- They have worked hard raising funds for scholarships which go to area youth who are in building trades programs.

- Each summer the Women’s Council participates in the NeighborWorks "Operation Paintbrush". They paint a home for a disabled or elderly citizen who is unable to do so themselves. This project helps people feel proud of their homes, and improves neighborhoods.

- At Christmas time this group gives needed items of clothing and food to the YWCA Women’s Shelter.

-The Wayside Cross Rescue Mission has received needed funds and donations from Women’s Council to help feed and house homeless individuals.

Other Contributions:

Each spring PAHB sponsors a "Builders Surplus Garage Sale". Members donate left-over building materials, appliances, cabinets, carpet, etc. for this huge sale. All proceeds benefit NeighborWorks of Pueblo as they work on neighborhood revitalization in our community. This past year we raised $4,200.00.

"Ask Questions of Your Home Builder"

Lots of people like to go through model homes. Some go to "dream of the day when", others go to look for interior decorating ideas and to see what’s new, and the rest are there to buy a new home.

You might think that the sales person is there just to sell you a home. But the sales representative should be considered as resource of information on the home, development and the area. Besides the question of "how much does it cost?," and "when can we move in?," here are some other questions to note the answers to:

Will the builder give you references of recent buyers/occupants?

Does the builder have a financing plan established?

Are there options in the floor plan -- can a basement or deck be added?, etc.

Can a room such as the basement be left unfinished?

How much "customizing" can be done versus standard features?

Can appliances be up- or down-graded?

Are there any additional fees relating to the home or development?

Does the builder offer a warranty program?

Does the price include landscaping? and what if the plants die within a year?

Are there any restrictive covenants?

What are the estimated taxes on the property?

How is the school system rated?

Are day care and grocery stores convenient and satisfactory?
